Bougainville Freedom Movement
Bougainville Copper Limited (BCL) is a subsidiary of Rio Tinto mining company. The current government of Bougainville, the Autonomous Bougainville Government (ABG) under the leadership of President John Momis and according to Bougainville Copper Limited (BCL), want BCL to return to re-open the mine at Panguna which has been closed since 1989.
The current edition of Mine Australia magazine has an article about Rio Tinto’s ‘mine of the future’ project, complete with driverless trucks and other equipment which helps minimise use of human workers.
Do driverless trucks and other equipment without the use of human workers solve Bougainville’s answers???
And Bougainville Copper Limited state on their website:
Welcome to Bougainville Copper Limited
2014 continues to be another year of positive development leading to the re-commencement of operations at the Panguna mine, owned and previously operated by Bougainville Copper Limited.
Both the Autonomous Bougainville Government and the National Government of Papua New Guinea have expressed the view that the Autonomous Region is ready for economic development, and that the impact project most acceptable to the people of Bougainville is a re-started operation at Panguna.
Stay strong Bougainville. BCL and Rio Tinto have no respect you!
