Bougainville over-run with Australian government advisors

The Autonomous Bougainville Government should be renamed the Australian Bougainville Government – as it currently has 22 AusAID advisors being paid for by the Australian government.

With a population of around 200,000 people, Bougainville has almost twice as many Australian advisors per capita as PNG has medical doctors.*

Whose interests are these advisors promoting” Are they advocating for the rights and interests of the people of Boaugianville or are they serving their paymaster, the Australian government and its mining industry?

At least Bougianville has one leader asking the right questions…

WHY THE SUDDEN INCREASE IN ADVISORS ASKS MOROKANA

Aloysius Laukai | New Dawn

A member of the Lule Coe, Paul Morokana today called on the ABG to stop getting more advisors into the Bougainville administration.
In a signed statement received by New Dawn FM, Mr. Morokana said that his people are concerned in the sudden increase of advisors to the Bougainville Administration ahead of the upcoming referendum.
Mr. Morokana said that there are more Bougainvilleans who can carry out these tasks and does not see any logic in recruiting expats who have their own interests.
He said that with all these advisors we have not seen any improvement and want these people removed as soon as possible.

* PNG has on average 1 doctor for every 17,000 people, Boaugainville has one Australian advisor for every 9,000 people

Wolves in sheep’s clothing, ever circling closer to a killing for whoever gets his teeth into it !

Australia’s paramount interest in Bougainville, (and other island states in the western pacific region) is security, poor governance, poverty, lawlessness attracts terrorism, Aussie advisors are there to contain that, if we Bougainvilleans think positive, that’s a good opportunity for socio-economic and political development. East Asia Miracle has proven that aid-driven development can be massive

No Steven, the interest is purely economic. Timor has no resources, they didn’t help. West Papua gets no help either because US and Australia have economical vested interest in their gold…
